WSIS: THE WORLD SUMMIT ON THE INFORMATION SOCIETY

World Summit on the Information
Society

This summit, is hosted by the International
Telecommunications Union under the patronage of UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan, and willl be held in two phases, in Geneva in December and in Tunis in 2005.
The International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) has been
strongly involved in the preparations for the Summit and maintains
a page of documents and links.
The summit will cover important issues such as open source software, the digital divide,
access to scientific information, treatment of information as property, and much much more.

The summit is attracting dozens of position papers from governments
international organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations,
business entities, societies, and others.
