Traipsing around Hue

June 30, 2010

We decided to rent motorcycles (and drivers, we’re not THAT crazy!) today in order to get further afield in Hue, Vietnam. Below is a video cobbled together of the day. We’re off tomorrow to Hanoi on the overnight sleeper train which should be fun. At least it’ll be air-conditioned :-)

Yay! Nice video. My friend enjoyed Hue when he was there a few years ago. Did it feel good to be the emperor surveying the land of the commoners from up there? ;-) Love the architecture. And what a treat to see the Buddhist monks! Vietnam is very Catholic but that area you were in was more Buddhist, yes? I forget what geographic areas are more predominantly Buddhist. Some areas are more Khmer influenced too. Did you see some of the minority cultures in Vietnam such as the Cham or the Hmong? And were the motorcycles fun?

Ah! Just re-read your previous post and yes, Hue is more Buddhist/vegetarian. ;-)
